Still want to buy another fine auto this year ?
Some Chrysler dealers still have the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 on their lots - including a dealer in northern Macomb County, Michigan that has 19 units for sale.
According to Chrysler spokeswoman Curtrise Garner, 6,400 limited-edition Challengers were ordered by customers when they were being built, but a quarter of the cars were set aside for dealers.
An ad for the Chrysler dealership in Macomb count showed off the dealers nine black, eight orange and two silver Challenger SRT8s. So far the dealership has sold just one with four more to arrive within days. Of course dealers are raking in the extra premium price. On its Web site, Huvaere priced the Challenger SRT8 at $45,145 - a $7,000 premium over the MSRP.
“We’re negotiating each price with the individual customer,” Simpson said. “We’re not getting a huge amount over sticker.”
Right - and this is our “we believe you face.”

Now isn't that a kick in the pants. It's just one of those years where you will have to get a new 300C and the Dodge Challenger don't you think?

08 Dodge Challenger SRT on the Street

I read a review in the Chicago Tribune about the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 is powered by a 6.1-liter, 425-horsepower Hemi V-8 with 5-speed automatic. It starts out with anecdotes about how people reacted to it when they took it out for a drive. Such as "There was the guy who made a U-turn to give chase--and a thumbs up. Another guy dropped his beer when circling a tree on his riding mower to get a better look. And, finally, the man for whom Challenger was almost a religious experience. "
Now I am not saying the following is the truth, in fact I would suggest it is highly improbable and factually non-existent. Such as, they were driving their SRT8 around they were showing the Hemi's 425 horsepower by putting the petal to the metal at each stoplight. They drove the car around doing tireburning donuts at alternate intersections, playing tic-tac-toe with a Chrysler 300C burning in X's , or maybe naked girls waving out the windows getting peoples attention, cops pulling them over and planting drugs so they could confiscate it.
Or maybe people were so impressed by the nostalgic beauty of of it as the end of a era that they just wept.

2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8

Chrysler lets us see full details for its new-reto 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 muscle car.The Challenger is the fourth vehicle to ride on Chrysler’s LX platform, succeeding the 300C, the Charger and the Magnum.
DETAILS-DETAILS-DETAILS-DETAILS-DETAILS
The SRT8 variant will come with a unique numbered dash plaque, carbon hood stripes, forged aluminum 20in alloys, and the SRT prepped 6.1L HEMI V8 engine complete with 425hp and 420lb-ft of torque.
Performance targets for the new Challenger SRT8 include a 0-60mph time in the low five-second range, 0-100-0mph in less than 17 seconds, a quarter mile time of less than 14 seconds, 60-0mph braking distance of approximately 110ft, and a skid pad performance of 0.88g. Transmission options include either a five-speed auto or six-speed manual, although the car will initially be available with the automatic only.
Though the 2008 Dodge is a pure-blooded muscle car it also comes packed with the latest in in-car technology. Some of the gadgets include GPS navigation, keyless start and entry, a MyGIG infotainment system and UConnect hands-free communication.
SRT8 models are limited to just three different colors, the familiar HEMI Orange, Bright Silver Metallic and Brilliant Black Crystal, so picking a color won’t be too hard when the first cars arrive in showrooms this spring. As earlier confirmed, the car will be manufactured at Chrysler’s Brampton, Ontario, Canada assembly plant and will be priced from just $37,995.
Dodge will follow up the SRT8 with regular Challenger models, which will be available with both V6 and V8 powerplants, but no official details have been released yet. Base models are expected to get a 3.5L V6 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, while the mid-spec R/T will come with a 5.7L V8 engine.

2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 in Your Garage ?

"It's On" as they say in the ads for the new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 some 38 years after its debut as a 1970 model. This is to be the forth and final use of the LX-platform used in the 300C, Magnum and Charger. The prices announced the end of November, priced at $37,995 and dealers started taking orders in December ahead of spring deliveries; the first retail chassis fetched $400,000 on Jan. 19 at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Arizona. Dodge plans to reveal the car Feb. 6 during the Chicago auto show.
power comes from the same 6.1-liter Hemi V8 found across the SRT range. That means 425 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque shuttled through Chrysler's familiar six-speed automatic transmission. The Challenger should run from 0 to 60 mph in the low five-second range, and likely somewhere in the 13-second bracket during quarter-mile burns.
