Chrysler UK Launches Diesel-Powered 300C SRT-Design

I guess they are going to be selling a 300C SRT6 in the UK. I don't know how it is where anyone else lives but in Minnesota diesel has been at least 50 cents a gallon higher than gas for the last year. So hope they do well in the U.K. the press release

CHRYSLER REFRESHES 300C FOR 2008 AND LAUNCHES NEW DIESEL-POWERED SRT MODEL

The Chrysler 300C is already the most striking vehicle on the road for less than £30,000 – and for 2008 Chrysler will make the 300C stand out even more – with a revised exterior and an updated interior across the range. Chrysler will also launch an entirely new model in the UK – the diesel-powered ‘SRT-Design’.

The exterior of the 300C has been refreshed for 2008 with changes to the rear fascia and rear light clusters. The rear saloon boot lid is also new and now incorporates an integrated spoiler and high-mounted stop light.

The interior design has been enhanced with a new instrument panel and centre console design, highlighted with satin silver bezels. Soft touch surfaces on arm rests and door panels add to the comfortable interior while the new dark interior colour adds to the sophisticated feel. A new ignition key with one-touch start-up, a fully adjustable steering wheel as well as LED lighting in the front cup holders and front and rear door pockets all provide additional driver convenience.

In addition, seat-mounted airbags have been added to the front and side-curtain airbags to the rear for increased driver and passenger safety.

The MyGIG infotainment system is a new option that offers owners the very latest integrated onboard systems. There’s MP3 player compatibility, a touch screen controlled navigation system featuring outstandingly clear graphical maps as well as the ability to store up to approximately 1600 songs on an integrated 20GB hard drive. The UConnect Hands-free Communication System uses Bluetooth technology to provide voice-activated wireless communication.

The 300C SRT-Design model includes all of these refinements and adds all the visual enhancements that make the high-performance SRT-8 such a crowd pleaser. The SRT-Design is available as a saloon or a Touring and features the economical 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine. SRT-Design features include SRT 20-inch alloy wheels and wheel arch spats as well as a chrome mesh grille. Inside, the SRT-Design gets MyGIG satellite navigation as standard as well as an SRT-8 steering wheel, SRT-8 leather sports seats and carbon fibre interior details.

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler UK Ltd, said: “We have sold more than 6,000 cars since the launch in 2005 and this means the 300C has been a huge success story for Chrysler in the UK. We have struggled to keep up with customer demand since launch and this sustained popularity has helped make sure that it has maintained a very healthy residual value and this bodes well for our future success.

“While the 300C SRT-8 is still one of the most affordable performance cars on the block the diesel-powered SRT-Design model means you get all the looks with the everyday driving benefits of our 3.0-litre diesel engine. The changes to the interior help take the 300C to a whole new level but the changes do not detract from what has made the 300C such a success – it remains a great looking, well-equipped and a very competitively priced car.”

Standard features on the Chrysler 300C include Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and an all-speed Traction Control System, front and rear side-curtain airbags, xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps, rain-sensing windscreen wipers and a rear park assist system. A leather interior, air-conditioning and heated driver and front passenger seats also come as standard on all vehicles in the range.

The 2008 300C Saloon comes with a choice of two engines in the UK: a 3.0-litre V-6 engine that produces 215 bhp at 3800 rpm and 376 lb.-ft. of torque from just 1600 rpm, and a mighty 6.1-litre V8 Hemi SRT-8 petrol engine that produces 425 bhp at 6,200 rpm and 420 lb.-ft of torque at 4800 rpm. The 2008 300C Touring offers the 3.0-litre V-6 engine.

3.0 V6 CRD auto Saloon - £27,495

3.0 V6 CRD auto Touring - £28,495

High International 300C Sales

The big Chrysler boys and girls should be smiling a little, international sales in January rose 12 percent making it the second-best January in the company's history. My favorite the Chrysler 300C came in third almost tying for second highest sales. The Italians apparently like Chrysler a lot as they were the highest-volume market outside North America, grew 16 percent to 1,854 units, the company said. Emerging markets, such as Eastern Europe, where sales were up 59 percent, hummmm they must be finding gold somewhere and China, where sales nearly tripled, I am surprised they weren't even higher with all the new wealth in that country. via Reuters

Love in a Chrysler 300C

This from the Malta Independent Online . A fellow by the name of Nicholas saw a survey that said that 80% of women admitted that their marriage proposal was less romantic than they had hoped for. “I observed that 6 million lovers come to Paris, each year, to say ‘I love you’. I said to myself: how is it that so many agencies are working on dating or marriage services, but none of them on marriage proposal services?has a marriage proposal service in Paris, the most romantic city in Europe, and guess what they ride in? You got it a Chrysler 300C Limo.
"He mentions some of the surprises he likes best: “Say I love you in a limousine, a majestic 9 meter Chrysler 300C, surrounded by the lights of the most beautiful monuments of Paris. The lovers will enjoy this drive in a deluxe American limo…"
All I can say is.........obviously, it makes sense to me.

Last Chance Chrysler 300C on Autobahn

I would love to get this baby ashakin'and out for a spin on the Autobahn. Although not it's not in Germany this tricked out Chrysler 300C would fullfill the enthusiasts thought in the back of their mind, a secret desire to drive, at least once in their lives, on the German Autobahn. Can you really get the full effect of a new Chrysler 300C SRT8 without getting it up to at least 150mph.
But NO!! a report in Car Magazine ,says there is a political movement in Germany that wants to put an end to speed limit free motoring, to slow down to save the world
The heart of this issue of political attack on the basis of what a person drives is pretty dumb. The German Autobahn will remain without a speed limit as long as “environmentally minded” politicians fear they won’t get re-elected for supporting a ban.

2007 Chrysler 300C convertible

Here is a 2007 Chrysler 300C convertible with only 50 miles on it. It's on ebay in the United Kingdom, funny they have the milage in miles not kilometers. Dig the lambo doors, that right hand drive would take some getting used to over here. If I only knew some one going to England, they could pick it up.

Chrysler has Record Sales Outside North America

I meant to post about this before on the general health of Chrysler from inar.de/en/business/ "Chrysler has achieved record sales outside North America in 2007 (238,218 units), outselling any previous year in the Company's history. This was an increase of 15 percent compared with total year sales in 2006, and set another record for the company with more than two and a half years of consecutive month-over-month sales growth. For the month of December, sales grew six percent (22,004 units) compared to the same month last year.
"On behalf of our leadership team, I would like to extend my personal thanks and appreciation to Chrysler's International network for a very strong 2007," Bob Nardelli, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said. "This impressive performance in markets outside North America is a great demonstration of what can be done when all of our employees, dealers, distributors and suppliers come together enabling Chrysler to accomplish something this company has never done before."

Chrysler 300C Touring Favorite 2 years in a Row

As one reads Mike Rutherford's column at the autoexpressnews . His picks for favorite cars of 2007 his choice for the second year in a row for estate car is the diesel Chrysler 300C Touring. He says there are more expensive ‘Rival’ cars that are superior on paper but cost six figure sums are irrelevant to all but a minuscule band of motorists. He says his choices are for the 'real world' therefore he made a good choice with the Chrysler 300C.

300C Love It or Hate It

We have heard this before about the Chrysler 300C.
From timesonline Love it or hate it, you cannot ignore it. Launched in Britain in October 2005, the Chrysler 300C looks as though it has driven straight out of The Sopranos with a body in the boot as standard.
It follows in a long line of American saloon cars that had tried, and failed, to crack the European market, and for many critics this latest attempt was likely to stand no better chance than its predecessors. Furthermore, they predicted, its residual values would be so poor that new car sales would all but dry up.
Two years on, however, and not only are new 300Cs still commanding list price but used examples are holding their value better than Mercedes, BMWs and Audis. The Chrysler 300C looks as though it’s the American saloon that finally won in the UK market.

How Much Does That 300C In The Window Cost

The title is a attempt at humor a play on a old song, How Much Is That Doggy in the Window. Anyway a interesting conversation going on over at 300cforumz on the relative cost of a 300C SRT8 depending on which country you buy it in. They say a Chrysler 300c SRT8 in the Netherlands cost is $124.000, in Canada it's MSRP $52,695 and here in the US it's $41,585. Guess you are better buying it here even with the exchange rates right now.

CHRYSLER 300C SURPRISES UK RESIDUAL VALUE EXPERTS

From the UK we learn that residual value experts have confirmed that the 300C has been a massive residual value success story. Martin Ward, Manufacturer Relationship Manager for CAP, said: “A two year old diesel Chrysler 300C with 30,000 miles on the clock is today worth an impressive 67 per cent of the £25,750 it cost when new. In contrast, a BMW 525D of a similar age that cost £31,115 in 2005 is currently worth £19,300 – that’s 62 per cent retained value.Martin Ward added: “It has been a big surprise to the industry just how well the 300C has sold in the UK, and more importantly how well it has held on to its value. All previous large American designed and built cars have not performed anywhere near as well. The 300C styling has hit the spot with both new and used customers and even two years after its launch it is still attracting attention. The bold design is set to appeal to used car buyers for some years to come.” I could have told you that.

Chrysler 300C Stretched Limo

Now this is a well done conversion of a Chrysler 300C made by Intercar of Modena, Italy. They call it the CR600L . They do some pretty wild conversions like turning a Ssangyong Rexton SUV into a pickup truck. via Edmunds

Where are they building the 300C

The 300, 300C and 300C SRT8 are being built in Ontario, Canada
With the Beijing Benz joint venture in China
Small numbers of the long-wheelbase sedans are also made by Accubuilt in Lima, Ohio.
The 300C Touring, meanwhile is assembled by Magna Steyr at its Graz plant in Austria.
There are no mechanical changes and the 3.0-litre Mercedes-Benz V6 turbodiesel remains, like the wagon bodystyle, unavailable in North America.

300C in Switzerland

In this review of the Chrysler 300C by Car and Driver the reviewer decided to drive it in Switzerland's Alpine switchbacks. Finding roads, that sound to me would hardly be wide enough to qualify as alleys in America. The problems were not with the car but where they drove it, surely they must have some two lane roads in Switzerland. Any full size auto would have the same issues in alleys made for oxcarts, so I don''t get the point. It would be like complaining it has never done well in the Baha 1000

300C Favorite German Import

"Auto Motor Und Sport, polled 100,000 of their own readers and asked them to list their favorite vehicles in ten different segments. Each segment was broken into two categories: Domestic (German brands) and Import.
If buyers were forced to abandon their Audi A6 in the "Upper Middle Class" category, they'd get behind the wheel of a Chrysler 300C"
That's cool !

Some Detailing Options for 300C

Here is a couple of ideas If you got about $1000 that you want to use for detailing your 300c. A couple of options are the LCD headlights from Screenlights. I must admit I don't quite 'get it' but apparently they can put a small LCD screen in your headlights. Personally I'd go for the vertical door look like this from autotrucktoys which costs about the same (you supply the doors) and they recommend professional Installation .
