Chrysler UK Launches Diesel-Powered 300C SRT-Design

I guess they are going to be selling a 300C SRT6 in the UK. I don't know how it is where anyone else lives but in Minnesota diesel has been at least 50 cents a gallon higher than gas for the last year. So hope they do well in the U.K. the press release

CHRYSLER REFRESHES 300C FOR 2008 AND LAUNCHES NEW DIESEL-POWERED SRT MODEL

The Chrysler 300C is already the most striking vehicle on the road for less than £30,000 – and for 2008 Chrysler will make the 300C stand out even more – with a revised exterior and an updated interior across the range. Chrysler will also launch an entirely new model in the UK – the diesel-powered ‘SRT-Design’.

The exterior of the 300C has been refreshed for 2008 with changes to the rear fascia and rear light clusters. The rear saloon boot lid is also new and now incorporates an integrated spoiler and high-mounted stop light.

The interior design has been enhanced with a new instrument panel and centre console design, highlighted with satin silver bezels. Soft touch surfaces on arm rests and door panels add to the comfortable interior while the new dark interior colour adds to the sophisticated feel. A new ignition key with one-touch start-up, a fully adjustable steering wheel as well as LED lighting in the front cup holders and front and rear door pockets all provide additional driver convenience.

In addition, seat-mounted airbags have been added to the front and side-curtain airbags to the rear for increased driver and passenger safety.

The MyGIG infotainment system is a new option that offers owners the very latest integrated onboard systems. There’s MP3 player compatibility, a touch screen controlled navigation system featuring outstandingly clear graphical maps as well as the ability to store up to approximately 1600 songs on an integrated 20GB hard drive. The UConnect Hands-free Communication System uses Bluetooth technology to provide voice-activated wireless communication.

The 300C SRT-Design model includes all of these refinements and adds all the visual enhancements that make the high-performance SRT-8 such a crowd pleaser. The SRT-Design is available as a saloon or a Touring and features the economical 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine. SRT-Design features include SRT 20-inch alloy wheels and wheel arch spats as well as a chrome mesh grille. Inside, the SRT-Design gets MyGIG satellite navigation as standard as well as an SRT-8 steering wheel, SRT-8 leather sports seats and carbon fibre interior details.

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler UK Ltd, said: “We have sold more than 6,000 cars since the launch in 2005 and this means the 300C has been a huge success story for Chrysler in the UK. We have struggled to keep up with customer demand since launch and this sustained popularity has helped make sure that it has maintained a very healthy residual value and this bodes well for our future success.

“While the 300C SRT-8 is still one of the most affordable performance cars on the block the diesel-powered SRT-Design model means you get all the looks with the everyday driving benefits of our 3.0-litre diesel engine. The changes to the interior help take the 300C to a whole new level but the changes do not detract from what has made the 300C such a success – it remains a great looking, well-equipped and a very competitively priced car.”

Standard features on the Chrysler 300C include Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and an all-speed Traction Control System, front and rear side-curtain airbags, xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps, rain-sensing windscreen wipers and a rear park assist system. A leather interior, air-conditioning and heated driver and front passenger seats also come as standard on all vehicles in the range.

The 2008 300C Saloon comes with a choice of two engines in the UK: a 3.0-litre V-6 engine that produces 215 bhp at 3800 rpm and 376 lb.-ft. of torque from just 1600 rpm, and a mighty 6.1-litre V8 Hemi SRT-8 petrol engine that produces 425 bhp at 6,200 rpm and 420 lb.-ft of torque at 4800 rpm. The 2008 300C Touring offers the 3.0-litre V-6 engine.

Chrysler New Day Ads Need Help

OK it a new day, but these ads that promote cool but minor features just don't quite do it for me. When I think of the Chrysler 300C I must admit I don't think about the importance of a navigation system. I am old school I have my wife telling me where to go. Now my son is starting to look for a new automobile and high on his list of priorities is a navigation system, I guess as he is young his wife doesn't help him navigate yet. The Chrysler 300C is a fantastic vehicle with lots of great features but what I am seeing it's like the old "where's the beef" ads. If you are to young to remember that, nevermind.

Old Man and His 300C

Arthur is 90 years old. He bought one of the first Chrysler 300C that came off the line and he loves it. He's been a golfer since his retirement 25 years ago. Yesterday he carefully drove home looking downcast. "That's it", he tells his wife. "I'm giving up driving and golf. My eyesight has got so bad...once I've parked the 300C, I can't see where it is."

His wife sympathizes. As they sit down she says, "Why don't you take my brother with you and give it one more try."

"That's no good", sighs Arthur. "Your brother is a hundred and three. He can't help."

"He may be a hundred and three", says the wife, "but his eyesight is perfect."

So the next day Arthur heads off to the golf course driving his 300C with his brother-in-law sitting next to him. He plays a round of golf. When finished Arthur turns to his brother-in-law and says, "Did you see where I parked the car?"
"Of course I did!", says the brother-in-law. "I have perfect eyesight."
"Where did it go?" asks Arthur.

"I can't remember."

Dreaming about 300C Vacation

I've been getting tired of winter and have been thinking of a summer trip in the 300C to grandmas house,we'd enlist the kids to help detail the Chrysler out beside the garden, before we went I could be picking peas in the garden while they worked. When we could, we'd get far enough away to pretend we didn't hear ourselves being called. It was a short hike through Uncle Morris' cornfield to the railroad. There, we could walk and pick up loose spikes or lay pennies on the rails to be flattened. Back at the house, we'd drink lime or grape Kool-Aid and talk on the front porch or play endless hands of "Battle" on a card table by the piano. Later in the afternoon we'd cruise down a old 2 lane back highway with the windows down smelling the woods listening to the creeks ripples that we could pretend were real waterfalls, and in the pasture it carved out a legitimate swimming hole whose location next to Highway 15 precluded skinny-dipping, sometimes with the Chrysler 300C glistening in the evening sun.

The Immortal Chrysler 300C SRT8

Today we have excerpts from article titled "Immortal Chrysler 300C SRT8" written by Casey Williams and published in the Noblesville Daily Times. A good reviewer and a 300C SRT* fan.
"Zero to 60 in the low five-seconds, 0-100 mph in under 17 seconds If the performance in question did not come from a full-size, five-passenger, rear-drive American road scarfer, you would think a Corvette or Mustang GT was lurking about. But, there isn’t. These numbers are from the elegantly rambunctious Chrysler 300C SRT8.-------Chrysler’s 300C SRT8 makes me want to put on a tuxedo, speak pretentious English, and go thrash pretenders at the drag strip while cackling out a window filled with smoked rubber. One look at the performance figures elicits that response.--------I appreciated the heated leather suede seats and dual zone automatic climate control most on a recent trip through sub-zero temperatures. Huge drink holders gripped 32-oz McCups easily.-------------------Numbers and specs aren’t enough to tell you how the SRT8 drives. I’ve driven the car on the road track at Texas Motor Speedway. Nothing about the car is pretend from its ultra-powerful engine, stiff performance-tuned suspension, huge Brembo disc brakes, and fun-loving electronic stability programming (ESP). Curves that would make me nervous in other well-engineered sedans were swallowed by the SRT8 with all of the drama of driving to church.------------- Last week, I awoke to 4 inches of snow under a layer of ice. After scraping the SRT8’s windshield, I began to tremble. The thought of piloting 425 horsepower connected to a rear-drive chassis and steamroller tires caused nausea. While ESP, traction control, and ABS brakes got a thorough workout (the dash light never quit blinking), the car was tame and manageable. Fortunately, the Interstate was plowed and well salted. All the better on which to give the engine a thorough workout."
Very nice

2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8

Chrysler lets us see full details for its new-reto 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 muscle car.The Challenger is the fourth vehicle to ride on Chrysler’s LX platform, succeeding the 300C, the Charger and the Magnum.
DETAILS-DETAILS-DETAILS-DETAILS-DETAILS

The SRT8 variant will come with a unique numbered dash plaque, carbon hood stripes, forged aluminum 20in alloys, and the SRT prepped 6.1L HEMI V8 engine complete with 425hp and 420lb-ft of torque.

Performance targets for the new Challenger SRT8 include a 0-60mph time in the low five-second range, 0-100-0mph in less than 17 seconds, a quarter mile time of less than 14 seconds, 60-0mph braking distance of approximately 110ft, and a skid pad performance of 0.88g. Transmission options include either a five-speed auto or six-speed manual, although the car will initially be available with the automatic only.

Though the 2008 Dodge is a pure-blooded muscle car it also comes packed with the latest in in-car technology. Some of the gadgets include GPS navigation, keyless start and entry, a MyGIG infotainment system and UConnect hands-free communication.

SRT8 models are limited to just three different colors, the familiar HEMI Orange, Bright Silver Metallic and Brilliant Black Crystal, so picking a color won’t be too hard when the first cars arrive in showrooms this spring. As earlier confirmed, the car will be manufactured at Chrysler’s Brampton, Ontario, Canada assembly plant and will be priced from just $37,995.

Dodge will follow up the SRT8 with regular Challenger models, which will be available with both V6 and V8 powerplants, but no official details have been released yet. Base models are expected to get a 3.5L V6 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, while the mid-spec R/T will come with a 5.7L V8 engine.

The big Chrysler boys and girls should be smiling a little, international sales in January rose 12 percent making it the second-best January in the company's history. My favorite the Chrysler 300C came in third almost tying for second highest sales. The Italians apparently like Chrysler a lot as they were the highest-volume market outside North America, grew 16 percent to 1,854 units, the company said. Emerging markets, such as Eastern Europe, where sales were up 59 percent, hummmm they must be finding gold somewhere and China, where sales nearly tripled, I am surprised they weren't even higher with all the new wealth in that country. via Reuters

Love in a Chrysler 300C

This from the Malta Independent Online . A fellow by the name of Nicholas saw a survey that said that 80% of women admitted that their marriage proposal was less romantic than they had hoped for. “I observed that 6 million lovers come to Paris, each year, to say ‘I love you’. I said to myself: how is it that so many agencies are working on dating or marriage services, but none of them on marriage proposal services?has a marriage proposal service in Paris, the most romantic city in Europe, and guess what they ride in? You got it a Chrysler 300C Limo.
"He mentions some of the surprises he likes best: “Say I love you in a limousine, a majestic 9 meter Chrysler 300C, surrounded by the lights of the most beautiful monuments of Paris. The lovers will enjoy this drive in a deluxe American limo…"
All I can say is.........obviously, it makes sense to me.

I love my 300C Kiss-Kiss

I don't know what this guy, Tarkan - simarik, is singing it must be something like I love my 300C - I want to love you in my 300C kiss-kiss I love my 300C long time. kiss-kiss I love my 300C - I want to love you in my 300C kiss-kiss I love my 300C - I want to love you in my 300C kiss-kiss I love my 300C long time. kiss-kiss I love my 300C - I want to love you in my 300C kiss-kiss. Middle eastern maybe ? Love the drumming though. After a little Googling I was kind of right I found"The first and rare video of the popular song "Simarik" (also known as "Yakalarsam") by turkish pop-maestro Tarkan.
The song is later copied by Holy Valence as "Kiss Kiss" and became a hit worldwide." I still have no idea what he is saying other than, seeing the 300C and him going kiss-kiss.

300C for a Month

At McKinney ,Texas the local Chrysler dealer,is letting the town's secondary Teacher of the Year, use a new Chrysler 300C for one month at no charge. They are even starting them out with a full tank of gas. That is very generous of them. Since h.s. teachers salaries don't permit them buy a 300C. After all the "Chief Executive Magazine" Listed the 300C as one of CEO's top 10 favorites I would be so frustrated I couldn't keep the car after a month I imagine the teacher might have to leave the teaching field and go out and get a CEO type of job that makes real money.-Oh which car do you think the teacher usually drives ?

Smaller More Profitable Chrysler LLC

The old style Chrysler logo was seen on the back of a 300C during the Chicago Auto Show, sounds like Chrysler LLC wants to find more gold like on their old style logo. by cutting its product lineup by around a half and dramatically shrink its dealership network so it can sell its three brands under one roof, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the plan. via boston.com That is going to eliminate a lot of small dealers, more people looking for work.

I have been trying to update the labels on previous posts,so one can find I am trying to be accurate it takes time

300C Sincere Flattery

For years my wife has complained that all cars coming out of Detroit looked the same. Whether it was Chrysler or someone else it seems As automakers came closer on quality, safety and technology, the only thing left to distinguish them is the way their cars and trucks look, both inside and out. The Chrysler 300C was one of the rare automobiles in recent years where design was elevated from an afterthought to a prime consideration. The saying imitation is the most sincere form of flattery and to me that shows up in the concept auto Scion Fuse. A miniature at that. It has been said "What would happen if a Japanese carmaker built an interpretation of the classic 1949 Mercury lead-sled hot rod? The Scion Fuse concept, that's what. The Fuse's low stance, chopped roofline, and sinister expression make it a pretty arresting car to behold, even with its Chrysler 300-style vertical taillights." There is more than just the Chrysler 300C taillights that are simular

Guess which is the Chrysler 300C the scionfuse the 1949 Mercury

300C SRT8 in India

Interesting post at team-bhp forum about the first Chrysler 300C SRT8 in Mumbai, India( used to be called Bombay for those who are not sure about their geography) With an estimated population of 13 million, it is the largest metropolis in India. With a population of 19 million, it is one of the world's top 10 centers of commerce in terms of global financial flow, home to the big money people of India like the stock exchanges. I am surprised that this is the first 300C SRT8 automobile especially since that is the home of India's Bollywood, which is bigger than Hollywood..

Old Man & Sad 300C Story

A 90 year old man was sitting on a bench in a park, sobbing when a young man walks by and asks him what's wrong.
Through his tears the old man answers, I just bought a 2008 Chrysler 300C SRT 8 and "I'm in love with a twenty-five year-old woman." "What's wrong with that?" asks the young man.

Between the sobs and sniffles, he answers, "You can't understand. Every morning before she goes to work we make love...At lunchtime she comes home and washes the 300C and we make love again, and then she makes my favorite meal. . And then after suppertime, she finishes detailing the 300C then and all night long, we make love." He breaks down, no longer able to speak.

The young man puts his arm around him. "I don't understand. It sounds like you have the perfect relationship. Why are you crying?"

The old man answers, again through his tears, "I forgot where I live."

Share the 300C Experience

This site is for one of the finer things in life to we can enjoy. Life was meant to be enjoyed...and part of enjoying life for many people is indulging in the luxury of a beautifully designed automobile like the Chrysler 300C.
We all know that there is more to life than money but the most wonderful things in our lives cost us something.. and there is nothing wrong with rewarding oneself with a little intentional luxury like a new set of wheels. Some people waste their money by traveling to exotic locations, others stay and dine in the most luxurious of hotels, while others like to adorn themselves in jewels. People should go straight for the 300C SRT8.
One of my favorite things in the world is to spoil the people I love with luxury. I love to give generously and enjoy the moments of them experiencing the joy and satisfaction. However I can't afford to buy all my friends a new car but I can share by giving the unfortunate ones a taste of the luxury of a 300C ride. Or if they all got together they could buy me a new Chrysler 300C SRT8 especially if they wanted to share their good fortunes and it doesn't have to stop with just family and friends anyone can get that wonderful feeling of giving.
I know there are many people in the world who could benefit more from knowing how special they are as an individual by giving. When you give something to someone else who could not otherwise have enjoyed the experience, that is when you reach a whole new level of living. So when you are looking at what you would like to pamper or reward yourself with, don't forget it you have the means, share some of life's luxuries with others.

New Hemi on Memory Lane

Gone are the days when backyard mechanics would take a striped down powerful car like maybe a Chrysler 300C and make a hot rod out of it. Now that is left to professionals. Like this little trip down hot rod "hemi" memory lane.

Powered by the new 6.4-liter 392 Hemi Mopar crate engine and featuring a hot-rod body, The SR 392 Roadster was designed by three members of Chrysler's Mopar Underground SEMA design team, a group of enthusiasts who design SEMA project vehicles in their spare time. Ahh the good old days, gone forever.
